We kept it simple last week and finished 2/2. We’re going a little longer this time in, but here’s hoping we nail it again.
The Alpha’s Top Tips
- Doggy Double! Western Bulldogs win into Canterbury Bulldogs win @ $2.25
- Sydney Swans 1-39 @ $2.05
- Cronulla Sharks win @ $2.71
Game of the week was last night between the Dockers and Pies; shame if you missed it. The only clash that looks to rival it is Sydney vs Richmond at the SCG tonight. The Swans are deserved favourite’s and should come out firing given the bye. Some teams do come off the rest a bit flat, but given the culture around the Sydney club, coupled with the memory of last years loss to the Tiger’s, they should be ready to roll here. The Tigers were gallant against a Fremantle side that didn’t play their best earlier in the month, but then couldn’t quite match a hot West Coast side last week. Sydney is a better side than both teams from the West, so if last weeks form holds up, Swans win 1-39.
Bet of the week is the Western Bulldogs against the Saints, and speaking of memories, the Dogs won’t need to be reminded of the 55 point lead they let slip against St Kilda earlier in the year. It’s an obvious statement, but they’ll want to atone. The Saints have had the bye but I have a feeling they’ll come out a little flat. That won’t be the case for the Dogs who looked ruthless last week against Brisbane. Western Bulldogs win by 20 points.
Best Bets – Sydney 1-39 @ $2.05 / Western Bulldogs win @ $1.50
Bet of the week is the Sharks against the Cowboys in Townsville on Saturday afternoon. That statement might seem ludicrous except for the fact that Thurston won’t be playing. JT has been the lone difference between winning and losing so many times for the Cowboys this year – and every year before. They just aren’t the same team without him. The Sharks will need to improve further on their latest two wins, but if they do so, the current odds look a steal.
The safe bet looks to be Canterbury against Melbourne on Monday night. Word is that Cronk may play but I’m inclined to risk that he isn’t, and if he does, won’t be fully fit. Granted, the Storm are a structured and disciplined outfit regardless of who takes the park, but the Bulldogs look to have the edge in the back-line and won’t have a worry about matching the Melbourne forward pack. Bulldogs by 8 points.
Best Bets – Cronulla win @ $ 2.71 / Canterbury win @ $1.50
